103-year-old woman, care level 4 to 2 (on Japan's 5-level care needs scale)
From a state close to being bedridden, the program enabled independent walking and conversation.
Supervised by Dr. Hiroyuki Konno, Japan's First ReCODE Protocol Certified Physician
The “ReCODE Protocol” from the acclaimed book The end of alzheimer's.
Japan's first ReCODE Protocol-certified physician fully supervised the development of “3Res”,
a non-pharmacological, integrated mind-body program.
Traditional care has centered on “safe keeping,” with the goal being to slow progression. However, the latest research is proving that maintaining and improving brain function is possible through appropriate lifestyle interventions.
3ReS has optimized a groundbreaking Alzheimer's treatment from the U.S. for Japanese individuals. We have redefined it not merely as a “facility,” but as a place dedicated to improving lives.
The ReCODE Protocol, proposed by Dr. Bredesen, Dale E., a world-renowned authority on Alzheimer's disease research. This groundbreaking approach, which restores cognitive function through lifestyle changes rather than medication, has made a global impact.
Over a decade later, integrated approaches like the ReCODE Protocol have become mainstream overseas for dementia prevention.
However, Westerners and Japanese differ in constitution, dietary culture, and living environments. Therefore, under the supervision of Dr. Hiroyuki Konno, our advisor and Japan's first ReCODE Protocol-certified physician, we developed our unique method “3ReS” tailored to the genetic characteristics and lifestyles of the Japanese people.
[ POINT ]
Recent research suggests that dementia is a type of lifestyle-related disease resulting from
chronic burden on the brain, such as inflammation and nutritional deficiencies.
3ReS does not aim for symptomatic treatment.
By simultaneously and comprehensively optimizing diet, exercise, sleep, and environment, we “restore” the brain's inherent functions.
Three “Re”s and one “S”. Combining these creates synergy for improvement.
Regeneration
The first step is preventing “glycation” and “oxidation,” which cause brain inflammation. However, this isn't just about restricting carbohydrates.
At 3ReS, we control carbohydrates while maintaining satisfaction by replacing rice—the staple food for Japanese people—with “Kinme Rice.” Furthermore, while adhering to gluten-free and casein-free principles, we have developed “delicious therapeutic foods” that Japanese people can enjoy daily.
Reactivation
The key rule of 3ReS is “timing.”
Exercising within 30 minutes after eating suppresses blood sugar spikes and prevents bodily damage. Furthermore, “dual-task training”—combining physical movement with mental tasks—intensively trains the brain's processing capabilities.
Rest
At 3ReS, we emphasize a clear distinction between daytime activity and rest.
We incorporate meditation and autonomic nervous system care to create an environment where the brain can purify and repair itself.
Surroundings
What 3ReS values most is this “Surroundings.”
This isn't merely about having an environment where the three “Re”s above are properly implemented.
Generally, individuals with dementia tend to be treated as “people who need to be protected,” often stripped of their roles. However, the human brain becomes most active when a person feels they are “useful to someone.” It is not about treating them as customers, but rather ensuring each person has a “role”—whether in cooking, cleaning, or other tasks—and lives within a network of social connections. This is the ultimate cure that restores human dignity and revitalizes the brain.
A Message from Our Supervisor
“Dementia can be prevented and improved through multifaceted approaches beyond medication. The ‘3ReS’ program adapts this hope demonstrated by the ReCODE Protocol to Japan's food culture and environment, making it sustainable without strain.”
Profile: Psychiatrist, Doctor of Medicine. Dementia specialist and anti-aging medicine specialist. Graduated from Nippon University School of Medicine and completed graduate studies at Juntendo University. Japan's first certified ReCODE Protocol practitioner. Advisor to New Ones Co., Ltd. since October 2018. Author of numerous books including “The Ultimate Diet for Preventing Dementia.”
From a state close to being bedridden, the program enabled independent walking and conversation.
Through proper nutritional management and dual-task training, cognitive function dramatically recovered within three months.
Results vary depending on the stage of progression, but we have seen cases where improvement was observed even beyond the age of 100. Please consult with us first.
We emphasize “substitution” rather than “restriction.” You can enjoy meals that are good for dementia without compromising on taste.
You can download various materials presented at domestic and international academic
conferences regarding the practical results of the 3ReS Method.
